Variety: Rosea pink

Location: by the telephone pole down the driveway on the right

Origin: Native to northeastern North America

Description

  • 15-20 feet tree or shrub.
  • excellent early forage for bees just as they are emerging from their hives.
  • Catkins form on last year’s shoots. Prune immediately after flowering to avoid cutting off next year’s catkins and to maintain small stature.
  • Full sun to partial shade, soil adaptable but prefers moist.
  • Useful in controlling soil erosion.
