These photos belonged to my great grandmother, Lucinda (Leaman) Beamon Thurston (1866-1942). She was born in Coverdale, Albert County, New Brunswick and moved to Moncton with her family before 1871. She married Thomas W. Beaman in 1892 and he died the following year leaving her with a 3 week old baby, Bessie. After her mother died in 1895, Lucinda took Bessie to live near her sister’s family in Boston. She married again in 1899 to Charles H. Thurston and they had two more children.
My mother tells me that these photos were originally displayed in a plush red velvet album. I imagine that Lucinda brought the tintypes and Carte de Visites with her from Canada.
